Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone
Chris Columbus, 2001.

I loved these books so so much and so I was convinced I would be sorely disappointed by the films. But I love the films! The Hogwarts of the film was exactly how I imagined it, Hagrid looked as I pictured him, even the "snitch" in the movie seemed to have been drawn right from the picture in my brain (which of course came from the thick descriptions in the book). I think the first movie is my favorite because I especially love all those actors (Harry, Ron, Hermione et al) when they were kids. Their innocence and mischievousness and open-hearted friendship makes me smile now even thinking about it. The acting in the later films is great too, but as those kids grow up they get a bit more sullen and self-absorbed and whiny (you know, like we do) and so are sometimes less fun to be around.
